The Lord’s Release
The day of atonement heralded the beginning of the Jubilee year. The Jubilee year was a year of release and liberty. People could be returned to their land and family. These concepts are built into the meaning of the Day of Atonement. What is played out out by the OT ceremony on that day is alive and active for the Church today.
