Brian Orchard explores the role of the Church with respect to the restitution of all things in Kingdom of
God. Christ is to facilitate the restoration of all things. A seed was promised as a blessing for all
mankind. That savior was to restore the government of God, and increase peace. He will deploy that
government to rule over the whole earth. He will build the temple of the Lord, sit on the throne to serve
as ruler and priest, and thereby establish peace.
The Body of Christ
The Church is the Body of Christ, and the temple over which Christ presides as High Priest. We are
participating in the development of the ruling government through which peace will be established and
restitution will be accomplished. This promise is not, for us, merely a future expectation. It is now. The
Church of God is the ruling body of God’s Kingdom, which must actively begin the process of restitution
of all things; i.e. right now. The Church is not the full expression of the Kingdom of God. But it is a part
of a process toward that end, and it is already a type of it.
The Government of God
Upon Christ’s return, His government will take dominion over the whole earth. That government is not
a reconstitution of existing human governments, but the introduction of a new government that is not
currently visible to mankind. The government of God is spiritual in nature, and not drawn from worldly
reference points. It is a developing organism that Christ is building from those the Father calls to Him.
The building stones are only acceptable if they are formed up as proper representations of His perfect
character through the working of His holy spirit. We are now to live and practice as members of that
government today; to be ambassadors of that government, projecting the light of God into the world.
This requires we rise above the human faults that divide us. Lift your eyes to the Kingdom of Heaven
and its King, let go of contentions and corrupt human systems, and participate now in the preparation
and construction of His government today.
