Knowledge is Power
What comes to mind when you hear “Knowledge is Power”? The phrase insinuates that knowledge gives a person power to control a situation or people. Did you know this common phrase is called an aphorism? An aphorism is an iconic or memorable phrase expressing a general truth. Other examples of aphorisms would be “A penny saved is a penny earned “, “The early bird catches the worm” or “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. And there are many others. Maybe some phrases come to your mind. They can also be concise, terse, or abrupt such as “Greed is Good”. Which presents a provocative observation about human motivation and capitalism. Here we are considering Knowledge is Power and look at the Bible. We’ll review two individuals who over a period of time gained a lot of knowledge. And with that knowledge they asked if they should control a situation. They were told no. Their method would have had a negative effect. Through Christian living and studying the Bible we also gain knowledge. And the knowledge we gain is power however not over others but over ourselves.
