Greetings,
King David declared that God’s law made him wiser than his enemies and gave him more understanding than his teachers (Psalm 119:98-99). He saw the law as the source of truth and that truth provided great peace. These are powerful concepts in David’s mind that helped him to see God in a very personal and particular way. God was the source of everything meaningful to David. The scriptures stand firmly on the foundation of God’s law. As the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “… the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15). The Holy Scriptures contain the law and the testimony (Isaiah 8:20). They provide the guiding light that our minds need to navigate the seas of our daily lives, so fraught with the influence of Satan . Our minds need what God’s law provides. “The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130).
The human mind is naturally lacking light and understanding. Of itself, it cannot generate these qualities because they come from a spiritual dimension. This dimension is not available to a mind that is not connected to God, through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. God inspired the prophet Micah to warn His people about the darkness they were embracing. “Therefore you shall have night without vision, and you shall have darkness without divination; The sun shall go down on your prophets, and the day shall be dark for them” (Micah 3:6). This world is a very dark place. That means that people are living without the qualities that David recognized as being provided by God’s law . The results are obvious to all – hurt, anguish, suffering, fear… “The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken. Behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord; so what wisdom do they have? … For they have healed the hurt of My people slightly, saying, Peace, peace! When there is no peace” (Jeremiah 8:9, 11).
The world is not at peace. The darkness of Satan’s way prevents the human mind from being able to see the way that produces peace. God’s Law, when lived as a way of life, produces peace. It will lead minds to see beyond the immediate, beyond the darkness of today – to see salvation. It gives direction and purpose outside of the constraints of physical life. The law given by God to man provides the ethical standards that we need to be aligned with the Father. “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3).
The point is, we who have a reconciled relationship with the Father through Christ, have access to God’s Holy Spirit. This Spirit enables the mind to “see” God’s law, that is, to see the spiritual intent of the law. When we embrace that intent, our minds are further illuminated to “see” the spiritual path God has set before those He has called to salvation. God’s law, empowered by the Holy Spirit, unites God with man. “Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statues and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God” (Ezekiel 11:19-20).
How important is God’s law to each of us? How much time do we spend trying to absorb its purpose and intent? Can we say with our whole heart, “Oh, how I love Your law!” (Psalm 119:97). King David purposely directed his mind toward the law of God in his personal relationship with God. We need to do the same.
Feast of Tabernacles 2017
Now that Pentecost is behind us and the Feast of Tabernacles is fast approaching, we need to pay attention to helping with the organization of each site. If you are keeping the Feast with us and have not yet registered for one of our sites, please do so ((see instructions below***)).. Knowing numbers helps us to make plans. Also, we have obligations in regard to the number of hotel rooms we have contracted for, so if you can make your hotel reservations soon that would be helpful.
We will be working on activity scheduling and hope to have that available for you to make choices from very soon. Where has the year gone?
*** To register for the Feast of Tabernacles: Go to our site, thefatherscall.org, click on “Welcome” in the purple menu bar, when the sub-menu opens, hover on Feast of Tabernacles, another submenu will appear, click on the sub-menu Feast of Tabernacles 2017.
