I wanted to take a few minutes and provide an update on the Church of God – The Father’s Call organization structure. One of the strong beliefs that we have held as we began organizing as a group, was the need to be very careful of mixing the normal business and administration of the organization of the church and caring for the flock – or the ecclesiastical responsibilities of the church. While the two functions – the business and ecclesiastical need to work together, the church is first and foremost a spiritual organism and no business function should ever become more important than the spiritual functioning of the church.
To maintain that separation, we setup two teams in the organizational structure of the church. The council of elders, who operate under Christ to oversee the overall spiritual direction and teachings of the church and the business management team who manage the day to day business functions of the church. The council of elders has oversight for but does not need to be involved with the day to day operations of the church.
When we organized the business management team, we discussed that these roles would need to be rotated in order to share the load of the work that needs to be done in order to keep an organization functioning. As a result, I feel that it is time to turn over the responsibilities of President so I can have time to focus on personal responsibilities. There is much that I have neglected because of the time that I have needed to put into fulfilling this role. In the interim, Bill Welch has graciously agreed to step into the role as of February 1, 2018.
I have received much encouragement from many of you over the years and thoroughly appreciate the prayers you have made on behalf of the church and those working diligently under the direction of Christ. I would encourage you to continue to beseech our Father for the guidance and direction we need to more perfectly fulfill His will as both individuals and a people who represent Him.
