Jericho and The Feast Of Unleavened Bread
The City of Jericho is a real place, and archaeological evidence supports the Biblical account that a calamitous earthquake destroyed its mighty walls and that the city was burned. While scripture is not explicit, the Biblical account, apocryphal sources, and Bible scholars generally agree that the fall of Jericho occurred on the Last Day of Unleavened Bread. The symbolism of this confluence reminds us that God is real and acts in our physical environment. More importantly, it points out that in our spiritual conquest of the Promised Land we have powerful resources at our disposal and that it is in God that our confidence rests.
