Through the Church in Pergamos, Christ is warning the Church that a factor that we must watch out for is the doctrine of Balaam. As Satan used Balaam and Balak to cause Israel to bring curses upon them selves, so Satan continues to attempt to seduce God’s people into activity that produces the same results. One way is to have members feel they are being righteous by keeping the letter of the law. The Apostle Paul noted that the letter kills. Satan is also very aware of this fact. We are to combat the doctrine of Balaam by having the mind of the Spirit. The mind is everything.
