God has a seven-thousand year plan. The doctrine of the seventh-millennium 1,000-year Sabbath has been accepted for a long time by many people, not just those in the Church of God. Yet few appreciate its purpose and meaning. The Sabbath requires the cessation of work, and rest from material labor. Yet Christ is always working. So the weekly Sabbath is not so much a day of “relaxation”, but rather a day to lay-aside our economic pursuits, and to pick-up God’s spiritual work. We study, receive instruction and fellowship vigorously. It is hard work! Similarly, the soon-coming millennial Sabbath is a cessation from man’s labor and spiritual strife, and a dedication to God’s creative purpose and spiritual peace. In that age we will be kings and priests doing the work of our Father. The Feast of Tabernacles is not a vacation. We leave the world behind to work for God as ambassadors of His Kingdom. We are building an embassy in a foreign land.
