Practicing the Art of Grandparenting
As grandparents we can play a vital role in the upbringing of our grandchildren. Due to changing family models and longevity of life, many grandparents find themselves as the primary care taker of their grandchildren. God has placed a responsibility upon us as grandparents to teach our children and grandchildren God’s ways of life. We can do this through our prayers for God’s intercession in their lives. But we also have a unique responsibility to stay in contact with our grandchildren and in these moments of being connected with them to be role models passing along family values and religious beliefs to these future generations. This special relationship goes both ways. Not only do we encourage and love our grandchildren, but we also teach them to honor and respect their grandparents so they can learn from the wisdom the grandparents can pass down due to their life experiences.
