Like Most Precious Silver
The original owners of the Comstock Lode – the largest single silver mine in history – sold it, believing they had mined all the gold in the lode and would no longer yield any wealth to them. Their lesser knowledge and experience in mining caused them to overlook the greatest riches. The new owner – George Hearst – recognized the greater hidden riches. He spent time and effort in learning how to mine various precious metals, not just gold.
The Psalmist tells us that the words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. These words reveal to us there is a process that we must engage in to receive the wisdom – the silver – of God’s words.
This message discusses the process we can use as followers of Christ to gain all the wealth it holds for us.
