A Rebellious People
In our relationship with God, obedience is one thing that is important but there is a danger that the Pharisees fell into that we can also. God’s laws are simple and easy to understand but when dealing with a world influenced by our adversary it can seem complicated. Some approach this problem by trying to customize God’s law so it seems easier for them. This can lead to a form of passive rebellion and thinking “I have a better idea”. When we step back and look at what we are doing, the safer place to be is at the trunk of the tree.
