Greetings,
There is a lot of activity going on in the world around us at the moment. Some of it has the potential to make substantial changes to the alignment of the nations as they stand today. Europe is a work in progress as it faces a very real and growing threat from the followers of Islam and its own EU economic difficulties. Instability is only growing in the Middle East and Eastern Europe as Iran and Russia seem intent on stamping their influence in these regions in the face of perceived weakness on behalf of the West. We are left with the lingering question – what lies ahead? If only we could “Google” the answer to that question!
A typical human emotional response to uncertainty and insecurity is what is commonly known as angst. For the average person there is no answer to the question as to what lies ahead because the future is unknown. The angst created by this situation will become more apparent in the unraveling of social structure. I am confident in saying this because Christ indicated that in the end-time lawlessness would abound. This lawlessness does not appear out of thin air – it has causes and I believe we are experiencing a high level of uncertainty that serves to fuel this expression of human nature. An example close to home of the craziness of the society around us just came to my attention. The driver of an ice cream truck that plies our street through the summer was arrested on Thursday less than a mile from our house (near a Middle and High school) for possession and transportation of Methamphetamine. Without God’s protection none of us or our families are safe. I wonder how like the days of Noah it is now.
I would like to remind you of something the Church published back in 1988. “Never before in all history has mankind faced a future so seemingly dark and ominous. Many sense the gravity of present world conditions. Many feel ever-increasing anxiety and uneasiness. There is no question about it! Your life will be affected dramatically by events developing in the Middle East!
But you needn’t feel helpless! As surely as God predicted these events, He also promises protection during this prophesied crisis to those who sincerely seek to do His will – to those willing to change their prejudices and rid themselves of deep-seated hatreds and suspicions, to repent of their rebellion against God and His law, to yield themselves to the authority of Jesus Christ, to call upon God for deliverance in heartfelt prayer.” The Middle East in Prophecy.
This is a godly response to the present uncertainty we see and feel around us. We can be very grateful to God that in general we know the answer to the question as to what lies ahead. Let’s follow the apostle Peter’s admonition: “Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless” 2 Peter 3:13-14.
Warm Regards,
Brian Orchard
