Are We Watching?
The Feast of Trumpets reminds us that Christ will return, and it’s been noted that His return will take place after a period of unprecedented world-wide traumas — all of which will lead to the establishment of the Kingdom of God on this earth. But in the context of questions about the events that lead up to end of this present age, Christ gave the people of God some clear directives and a number of warnings to watch out for. These are mostly tied in to our hope and expectation of His return. Simplistically, Christ is concerned that we do not get caught off-guard. The warning to watch is repeated over 20 times in the New Testament. But we live in an age of distraction, and that Brethren, may be an understatement. So many pulls from here and beyond, desirous of our attention, and although in and of themselves, we might find very little complaint, the wrong use of them could derail us. Yet Christ does tell His people to watch. So today, let us cover what and how we should watch. But prior to these two insights, what does it mean to watch? What does God say?
