Spiritual Poker
Many, if not most, assume that poker is a game of luck. It’s not. In fact, the actual best hand only wins 12% of the time. Poker demonstrates the crucial importance of skill. You can win with the worst hand and lose with the best. So, too, in our Christian life. Regardless of the hand we are given in life, if we submit to God and follow His ways and His law, God will build within us Godly wisdom to have a successful and fruitful life. God has called the weak of the world to demonstrate that by looking to Him and not themselves, they can become a special people to Him bearing much fruit. In this way, God will be able to use the humble to bring shame (repentance) to those considered to be the high and mighty of the world. As they finally begin to look to God for guidance/wisdom and not self-reliance in their own abilities, they too can be brought into a right relationship with God. Those called now, need to become skilled in applying and living by the law of God – the true way to a successful life.
