What’s In A Name?

Names and what they represent are important. Christ in providing instructions on how to pray tells us to hallow God’s name. Hallowing God’s name shows a deep respect and reverence for our Creator. God’s name represents His divine nature, character and authority. In the 3rd Commandment, God reinforces the need to respect His name and not to misuse it. God reveals Himself to mankind through His name that He is holy. Because God is holy, He tells us to be holy as well. As we obey God and continue to overcome, we will one day be born into His family and as such be given a new name ourselves.
