Spiritual Chess
Our spiritual journey can be likened to a game of Chess. The strategies necessary to be successful in chess, can likewise be applied to insure success in our spiritual growth and maturity. Just as we need to study the rules of chess, so also, we need to be well acquainted with God’s word and the principles He provides to be able to overcome and grow spiritually as we develop God’s perfect character. Chess has often been likened to warfare. Spiritually, we are in a life and death warfare against our adversary, Satan. We must rely on God’s Holy Spirit and the insight God provides within his word to skillfully combat our adversary. God has called the weak of the world, just as a pawn is the weakest piece on the chess board. The pawn’s task is always move forward. So too with us in our spiritual journey. We are to keep moving forward, to persevere and endure the trials in life as we strive to attain God’s perfection. As a pawn is transformed into a mighty Queen, our transformation is even greater. We are to be born into God’s very family, to receive a crown of righteousness and to be a pillar in God’s temple and to reign with Jesus Christ.
