Sin, Crushed Bones and Joy
2 Samuel 12 gives us the historical account of David’s sin with Bathsheba. A sin that not only affected David, but also the whole nation of Israel. David records the anguish of “crushed bones” in Psalm 51. David sings of the joy of his repentance in Psalm 32. As we approach the Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, David’s example provides us with the consequences of unrepentant sin, the separation of the sinner from God and the joy of reunion upon a contrite and repentant heart.
