Pentecost 2020
The history of mankind is very much a story of God’s relationship with His human creation. History books abound, but the best “go-to” source for the true account is the Bible. God has often chosen out of the world unique individuals or groups through which He works His will. Today, that unique group is the Church of God, also known as the firstfruits. In the first century, the Church was “born” on Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was given as the helper Jesus had promised prior to His ascension. We ask what God is doing with His people, His firstfruits? Jesus became the first of the firstfruits when He arose in a victory over death and the grave. He was likened to the wave sheaf offering of Israel’s early grain harvest. After its presentation and acceptance, the main early harvest could begin. That early harvest is God’s Church over the past 20 centuries. What is God doing with His firstfruits? He is building a family to rule and educate the nations. First the earth, then the Universe.
