Other gods…How Close Are We?
We understand that God wants no other gods before Him. The apostle Paul understood that there was an alternative “god” that could be worshipped. This being was so successful at deceiving the world— so much more so that he was able to blind the minds of people so that they were unable to recognize the true God. That “god” that seeks our attention and the worship of that being results in the destruction of humankind. Paul refers to the god of this age in Ephesians 2:2 as the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. Satan has a number of devices that we may find obvious distractions — that take away our focus on the True God. But what about a few that we might not have considered? Well, today, let us look at just two aspects in our society that many would say are perfectly acceptable, but upon closer examination, could be seen as distractions away from God.
