In a mere matter of months, the EU Commission President, Jean Claude Junker, could have one less country obstructing his goals for Europe if the UK Independence Party gets its way.
Australia’s Sky News March 15, 2015 headline read,
“UKIP demands EU vote to back Tory govt”
The upcoming UK general election is to be held in less than two months. The date is Thursday May 7th.
An October 12, 2014 article in The Telegraph, a UK newspaper, indicates that the UKIP raised the same demand earlier.
At the moment, the election between the Conservative and Labor alliances is said to be close. According to Sky News, UKIP’s leader is still willing to support David Cameron’s party if the Conservatives agree to,
“a full and fair referendum to be held in 2015 to allow Britain to vote on being in or out of the European Union.”
A referendum on whether to leave the 28-member-state bloc was promised by 2017.
Trial Separation Ruled Out
BBC reported that UKIP’s leader also said,
“There would be no wiggle room for ‘re-negotiation’ somewhere down the line,”
So the immediate question is whether the Conservatives will agree to UKIP’s terms to enhance their odds of remaining in power.
