Give Due Respect to All Men
As God’s people, we should give due respect to all men, be subject to the governing authorities and show honor to civil authorities in this world.
Paul addresses this in 1 Timothy 2:1-6. Outside of our family and those in our local congregations, most of our interactions on a daily basis are with non-believers, those who have not been called at this time. How we interact and view those with whom we come in contact provide opportunities to properly represent God and His way of life.
We should be careful to deal appropriately with civil authorities over us, obey the law and be good citizens (Romans 13:1-7). This extends to paying our taxes and other civil assessments. We should always show respect to rulers and properly address them in conversation, showing respect for the office they occupy. We have clear biblical responsibilities to deal productively and respectively with all men and properly represent the Kingdom of God in a real and tangible way.
