How to Get What You Want
If you always get what you want or always do what you want to do, you most likely won’t end up with what you really want—what you value. There is very little in culture, there’s very little in media, and there are very few relationships that will focus our attention on what’s really important. So, it’s easy to get sidetracked. A society organized around what we want, it not very good at getting us what we value.
Paul says what we naturally want is often in conflict with what we really want—what’s important. The solution is to change the way we think.
