Friendship, the Tool of Endurance
We are reminded annually on the Feast of Trumpets to be ready for Christ’s return. Do we hear the sound of the trumpet in our own lives? Are we continually getting stronger spiritually as we approach Christ’s imminent return? We are continually reminded to use the common tools at our disposal: prayer, study, fasting and meditation as the day approaches. There is, however, another invaluable and indispensable tool that we must have: friendship. As friends, we can buoy one another with encouragement to stay the course and thus avoid compromise. We can sharpen one another’s countenance by being honest with each other because we truly love one another. Also, we can kindly lift each other up when we are down. Those who hear the sound of the trumpet can go shoulder to shoulder to fight the battle within.Download Selection
