A Giving Attitude
God is the first giver. Giving is a central character trait of God that He wants developed in those He has called. God expects us to give tithes and offerings to Him and to not do so is a form of robbing God. But there are many aspects to giving that are not strictly monetary. We give our time, talent, interest, and attention. We give to others in the form of our prayers. God instructs us in the principle of reciprocity thru forgiveness, which is also an aspect of giving. We are to learn to be a cheerful giver and to do so without grudges. We are to give of our best and giving can be one way of breaking the poverty cycle. God blesses individuals because of their care and generosity to others. We learn that thru giving, individuals can be unified and reconciled in their relationships. Finally, we see that the calling of the first Gentile had to do with a giving attitude.
