Two major European capitals, Paris and Brussels, are on edge after the tragic event that occurred one and a half weeks ago. And just like after the infamous 2001 “9-11” attack in New York, no doubt, all our lives have been forever altered.
Daesh (aka ISIS) swiftly claimed responsibility for the six well coordinated attacks in Paris on November 13, 2015.
Winds of Change
Leaders of the EU realize migration and terrorism issues are having an enormous affect on it’s citizens.
On the 23rd of November, the news site DW said:
“… European Council President Donald Tusk announced … a summit of the European Union’s 28 members and Turkey will be held in Brussels on Sunday in hopes to tackle the refugee crisis once and for all, a topic that has taken on increased urgency in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris.”
Migration and terrorism are also the two top voter hot button issues outside continental Europe.
Already, a politically motivated YouTube video capitalizing on the public’s fears is circulating in the UK and North America, and politicians are tailoring their rhetoric along the same lines.
Further Danger
Accounts of past extremely turbulent periods show what happens when an individual’s self preservation mode takes over. So as tensions escalate, much more concerning than increased airport security, bag searches more places, and other inconveniences, is what can occur to minds and professed value systems when folks become increasingly frightened or angry.
