Ken Parks explains the value of staying in the right lane in order to reach the destination predictably. It is tempting to change lanes when others seem to be moving faster, but inevitably, the advantage is short lived. Furthermore, once you switch, it is hard to get back in; you may even miss your destination altogether. Don’t yield to impatience and temptation. God has given us the responsibility of making these same choices in our spiritual lives. There is no excuse afforded. 1. Depend on the Holy Spirit to discern right behavior. 2. Use the spiritual tools of prayer, bible study, fasting and mediation. 3. Exercise integrity in the moment of choice. The community of the Church of God is a valuable aid in all respects, as it supports us in using these techniques. Seek that help and fellowship, even while working out your own salvation with full personal accountability and free moral agency. The lane we are driving is narrow, but reliable. Stay in it.
