“Sweden announces recognition of Palestinian statehood”
According to DW,
“The Jewish state has long insisted that direct negotiations, and not other diplomatic channels, were the only path to Palestinian statehood.”
DW stated,
“Seven European Union members in eastern Europe and the Mediterranean have already recognized Palestine as a state: Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Poland and Romania.”
DW added,
“Iceland, which does not belong to the EU, is the only other western European nation to have done so.”
