How To Get God’s Attention
A few year back I spend a weekend with a blind couple [church members] who were such an example for me. She would cook meals, wash dishes, iron, prepare her husbands lunch, etc. Someone would pick him up and he went to work like any ordinary person. It was an inspiring weekend for sure.
Today I would like to introduce you to an individual in the Bible who was also blind but he was also financially broke and stuck in a job that was taking him nowhere. His name was Bartimaeus. But of all the individuals who were walking with Jesus on His way to Jerusalem, he is the one that Jesus paid attention too. He is the one who got Jesus attention.
Let’s see what lessons we can learn from Bartimeaus, apply those lessons and get God’s attention as he did.
Lesson 1 – He chose to go to a higher source for help outside himself.
Lesson 2 – Build Faith by repeatedly bringing our requests before God.
Lesson 3 – He asked God for mercy.
Lesson 4 – Be specific with our requests when asking God for help.
In closing, one of the Bible commentators wrote that after Bartimaeus was healed, he went on to become a leader in the early Church.
