How important is it to honor your father and mother? It might sound like an outdated concept given our current cultural leanings. Does it really make that much difference today? Well, if there is anything to be learned from the past, it matters greatly. The biblical nation of Israel went into captivity when they forgot God and His commandments. The fifth commandment – honoring ones father and mother – is key to the knowledge and fear of God being passed on from one generation to the next.
