2nd Commandment
God’s commandments are, as King David said in the 119th Psalm, exceedingly broad. They apply to the many and varied aspects of our lives. The first commandment instructs us to have no other gods before God, because He has given us virtually everything. The second commandment essentially instructs us to worship Him in His spiritual image. The Egyptians, whom Israel was freed from, had many physical images that they bowed to in their culture. But bowing before physical images is walking by sight – it is faithless. Equally faithless is bowing before mental images, when supposedly in the worship of God, that bear no resemblance to God’s mental image at all.More in this Series
