Why Keep The Sabbath? Freedom.
Most Christians regard Sabbath-keeping as oppressive legalism. But in fact, the Sabbath is all about freedom. We’re all deluged with work, chores, and social obligations. We’re seduced into anger, fear and lust by incessant media feeds. Don’t you feel trapped? The Sabbath draws a line on all that, and redeems time for us. In keeping it, we stop the merry-go-round of life, separate from worldly distractions, draw close to God, and get spiritually fed. God brought us out of slavery, and gave us this time to help us stay at liberty. We keep the Sabbath for freedom.
