True Spirituality
If God’s purpose will be accomplished as He has planned, why does He teach us to pray in an intercessory manner? Is the function of intercessory prayer to attempt to block His way or overcome His anger?
The truth is that God seeks to engage us and actively involve us in what He is doing. He is actively looking for someone, anyone who will partner with Him so they can be given all the strength necessary to work out a problem needing attention.
This is called “standing in the gap,” and through a proper relationship with Him we can claim the privilege of asking a friend (God Himself) for help. Intercessory prayer builds that friendship and then God can accomplish His purpose through us, pointing others back to His mercy and kindness.
