Instructions for Taking the Passover at Home
Preparations
In advance, purchase or prepare a small amount of unleavened bread. Be sure the bread you use has no leavening in it. Products such as RyKrisp or matzos are appropriate. You should also obtain a small amount of natural, unfortified red wine.
Prepare the room in advance. There should be enough unleavened bread and glasses of wine on the table to correspond to the number who will be participating. A tablespoon of wine in each glass is sufficient for the service.
Streaming the Service:
You should begin to stream the service from the website in the early evening, soon after sunset.
Footwashing:
If two or more people are participating, they should wash one another’s feet. If one person is observing it alone the actual footwashing is omitted.
Bread:
After the bread is prayed over, break the bread into small pieces and distribute to those in attendance.
Wine:
After the wine is prayed over, distribute the wine to those in attendance.
Following the Service:
After the service has ended and those in attendance have left the room, the one hosting the service should destroy any leftover portion of bread and wine that was blessed.
