While American midterm political elections, unusually early snowstorms, and daring aerial feats the past few days totally dominated the nation’s prime time TV news; significant events continued to unfold elsewhere.
In and around Israel tensions remained high and were further exacerbated by recent acts.
Israel’s prime minister infuriated Israel’s friends and foes, as well as former president, Shimon Peres, a member of the prime minister’s own cabinet, plus numerous other Israelis, by endorsing more construction projects in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
A prominent rabbi and head of the Temple Mount Heritage Foundation, Judah (in Hebrew, Yehudah) Glick, sustained serious injuries when a Palestinian is said to have deliberately targeted and shot him 4 times before speeding away on a motorcycle.
And the Islamic group ISIS continued to advance as well as to kill anyone who stood in their way even including, according to the CBSNews website, other Sunni Muslims.
