October 31, 2024 – Update on Lucas. He was awake and responsive for 45 minutes today. Wednesday afternoon the Physical Therapist came in and Lucas showed incredible improvement. He was able to sit up on the edge of the bed with support. They walked him through some tasks like brushing his teeth, and he was able to do a lot of work with light assistance. The goal was to sit up for 10 minutes and he made it 13 minutes. Above all, just focus and effort to do lmultiple things at once was the best I have seen so far!
October 29, 2024 – Very big and wonderful update today. Lucas was able to move all four limbs on command today. He showed a few more periods of responsiveness throughout the day, but he pulled it together for us in one great stretch. I ran to grab the doc and Lucas repeated for them. That’s a big step for all of us mentally. So many ups and downs and hyper analyzing every number and every treatment. Everything. But to have your boy squeeze your hand – well, that is worth something special. Today was a pretty good day.
He is breathing on his own without a ventilator.
