Weather wise, in America January 2015 finished up as a month of extremes.
Storm Juno dubbed “one for the history books” struck the American Northeast Tuesday January 27th. New York city escaped the brunt of Juno; but Long Island, just east of it, and New England did not.
People dealt with record-breaking snowfall, icy conditions, and hurricane force winds. In addition to all that, “catastrophic flooding” slammed parts of Massachusetts, reported the US TV show, CBS This Morning.
Flights to and from the region were canceled, trains and subways came to a halt. In a number of places, only snowplows and emergency response vehicles were allowed to be on the roads.
Another storm system was slated to hit the Northeast by the end of the week.
At the same time, Californians looked for the rain that never came. Winter is California’s rainy season, and December complied by being wetter than usual. January, however, delivered virtually no snow or rain to the parched state.
