In a world rife with ruthless selfishness, even the smallest slight can trigger catastrophic consequences. Yet courtesy is dismissed as contrived and outdated. On the contrary, courtesy is a cornerstone in the moral foundation of civilization. What’s more, it is the fruit of God’s spirit. Done properly, courtesy is esteeming oneself little and others greatly. It is the expression of godly, self-sacrificing love. So while the world marches unrelentingly into anarchy, we can resist effectively with the smallest disciplines in politeness.
