Tractors, cell phones and wheelchairs. There can’t possibly be a common thread here can there?
Sadly yes.
The definition of a lobbyist typically revolves around lobbying on behalf of another for compensation.
The giving of a gift.
Each of those three things and much much more has been altered to prevent people, their owners, from repairing them. The companies that build them have lobbied to have laws put in place that forces people to pay them and only them to repair those devices.
The companies have paid lobbyists to pay lawmakers to put the laws in place to make it so.
In short, they said… “We will give you this money… IF… You….”
